Reviewing the top fantasy football lineup that you could have put together in week 1 with a good showing from us on the Daft Kings podcast!
FULL PPR POINTS*
Top QB Of The Week
Russell Wilson 31.78 points
Russell Wilson led the Seahawks to a big win over the Falcons and he looks as good as ever going 31/35 for 322 and 4 TDs in week one.
- Russell Wilson – 31.78 points
- Aaron Rodgers – 30.76 points
- Josh Allen – 28.18 points
- Lamar Jackson – 27.50 points
- Kyler Murray – 27.30 points
Tyler predicted two of the top eight QBs this week, Mitch Trubisky (No. 8) and Cam Newton (No. 6) a great showing for week one! I (James) didn’t fair quite as well, tipping Kyler Murray (No. 5) was a great tip but Tyrod Taylor produced a stinker with only nine points as the 31st ranked QB.
Top RB Of The Week
Josh Jacobs 35.9 Points
Jacobs had a huge week, scoring a hattrick of TDs against a hapless Carolina defence that seems to be even worse than 2019 against the run.
- Josh Jacobs – 35.9 points
- Christian McCaffrey – 28.4 points
- Ezekiel Elliott – 27.7 points
- Nyheim Hines – 27.3 points
- Malcolm Brown – 26 points
If you’d followed Tyler’s tip of Josh Jacobs you would have been off to a flying start, but his selections of Austin Ekeler (No. 35) and Antonio Gibson (No. 48) leave a lot to be desired.
I had a bit of nightmare with Hines somehow becoming the No. 1 back in Indy and Marlon Mack (No. 37) being out for the year after the first quarter. Sony Michel (No. 36) scored a TD but only came away with nine points because Burkhead played too many snaps!
Top WR Of The Week
Davante Adams 41.6 Points
Tyler and I both predicted Davante Adams to have a huge week and that he did. By far the best receiver on the slate, against a leaky Vikings defence, Rodgers had a huge day and Adams was the beneficiary.
- Davante Adams – 41.6 points
- Calvin Ridley – 33.9 points
- Adam Thielen – 31.0 points
- DeAndre Hopkins – 29.1 points
- Darius Slayton – 28.2 points
Other than Adams, Tyler whiffed on DeSean Jackson (No. 72) as he did nothing against a surprisingly stout Washington defence but D.K. Metcalf (No. 13) had a nice day to make up for it.
I managed to find a needle in the haystack (was just luck, really) with Robby Anderson (No. 6) having a monster game against the Raiders, however, TY Hilton (No. 50) was just about eliminated from the game by Jags rookie corner Henderson.
Top TE Of The Week
Dallas Goedert 24.1 Points
Zach Ertz was healthy so I don’t think anyone expected a monster game from Goedert. Could we see Ertz traded now that Goedert looks like a certified beast?
- Dallas Goedert – 24.1 points
- Mark Andrews – 22.8 points
- Noah Fant – 19.1 points
- Travis Kelce – 17.0 points
- T.J. Hockenson – 16.6 points
Tyler and I both thought that Hayden Hurst (No. 23) was due for a big day against the Seahawks, but maybe he just isn’t that good. Hunter Henry (No. 12) performed well for Tyler while Dawson Knox (No. 26) had some growing pains against the Jets for me.
Top DEF Of The Week
WAS, NO, BAL 15 Points
Surprisingly, the Redskins were tied with the Saints and Ravens this week (thanks to the Eagles Oline) but these were great performances all round from these three units.
- Washington – 15 points
- New Orleans – 15 points
- Baltimore – 15 points
- Los Angeles Chargers – 11 points
- New England – 11 points
So, we don’t tend to think much about our defences here so Tyler went with the Eagles defence (No. 19) who got roasted by Washington and I went for the Lions defence (No. 25) who got destroyed by Trubisky.
