Jalen Ramsey has blown Tre’Davious White out of the water, signing a huge five-year extension with the Los Angeles Rams!
It was only matter of time before Rams cornerback Jalen Ramsey topped the market with an extension as he had the team over a barrel. Essentially, LA had to hand Ramsey a blank check after using so much draft capital to acquire him. They did just that and now Ramsey will be paid $105 million over five years with $71.2 million of that guaranteed. For those who want that in context, Tre’Davious White got just over $17 million per year a few days ago and Ramsey will be getting $21 million per year, about $4 million more. While Ramsey is a spectacular player, he needs to be an absolute monster in LA to be worthy of this deal.
The cornerback market was a strange one after Darrelle Revis signed a deal worth over $18 million, since then no one had come close for several years. The Rams are playing a dangerous game paying big money to players which could see this team crumble. They already had to take on a large amount of dead money to get rid of Gurley’s contract, they have Goff on a disgusting looking deal for who he is and then Aaron Donald is probably the only one who deserves his contract because he is a one-man wrecking crew. If Ramsey can keep the drama out of his game and be the all-pro shutdown corner we know he can be, this won’t look like such a bad deal in a few years time.
