Fantasy Football Tips – NFL Week 9

Fantasy Football Tips – NFL Week 9 by James Platt

WEEK 9 HERE WE COME! HERE ARE MY PICKS FOR THIS WEEK!

My Tips This Week

Quarter Back

Been better, been worse!

Cam Newton

We all know it by now. The Buccaneers are not stopping any QB/WR combo. Newton has improved his pocket presence a lot this season and it has shown up time and time again. His receiving corps has also been improving week after week and D.J. Moore is proving why he was a first round pick. Expect a big day for Mr Newton and his targets.

Awesome Tip!

Jared Goff

He is getting Cooper Kupp back this week and Todd Gurley is still a monster. The Saints defense is still giving up too many points and the undefeated Rams should have a field day. It’s also likely to be a shootout with Drew Brees on the other side of the dome. A road win against a tough Saints team would signal that the Rams are for real and the rest of the NFL should be terrified.

Running Back

What was I thinking…

Adrian Peterson

The old man on the first place Redskins is battling multiple injuries but he is still putting up stats. I thought for sure he was done but each week you see him break off huge runs when you think he’s bottled up. Atlanta has quietly been one of the worse defenses against the run recently and Washington can bully them all over the turf.

Good Tip!

Nick Chubb

The second-round pick is averaging 6 YPC and the Chiefs are giving up the worst YPC AVG in the entire league. The Browns offensive line isn’t anything special but Chubb is getting over 90% of the carries since Hyde left and he should be able to find some space against this Kansas City defense. Although THE Chiefs have gotten better in recent weeks, I think Chubb is too talented to be held down.

Wide Receiver

Good Tip!

Brandin Cooks

Like I said earlier, the Saints are going to be pushed all over the field by the undefeated Rams (although I’m not guaranteeing a Rams win.) This selection could also be swapped for either Robert Woods ($7,000) or Cooper Kupp ($6,000) as the trio will all have the opportunity to feast on this atrocious secondary. McVay will look to confuse the young defense with reverses and no one does it better than Brandin Cooks.

Been better, been worse!

Danny Amendola

The former New England Patriot is a slot favourite for Brock Osweiler and the Jets enjoy giving up completions and touchdowns to slot receivers. If you hadn’t noticed BROCKTOBER is now over so take ‘Dola at your own risk, Brock may not be able to throw the ball as well as he has in recent weeks. He won’t be throwing more touchdowns but for his price, he is a solid play.

Been better, been worse!

Courtland Sutton

I think this is a no brainer. I have no idea why he was so cheap even before the Demaryius Thomas trade. Thomas had a 20% target share and Sanders already gets a lot of targets so at least half of those are going to be thrown Suttons way. The talented rookie can definitely make the most of this opportunity and make himself one of the best plays of the week.

Tight End

Awesome Tip!

O.J. Howard

The Panthers defense is suspect against wide receivers and just downright trash against tight ends. They are the worst defense against tight ends in terms of fantasy points and Howard was pretty good when Fitzmagic was throwing him the ball at the start of the year. I don’t feel like the Panthers are going to give up a lot of points as they have improved over time, but I do expect Howard to perform extremely well against them.

What was I thinking…

Vance McDonald

He hasn’t been as hot in recent weeks and he is playing the fearsome Ravens defense so I can understand if this pick flops. However, if you need to save some money on your tight end then McDonald might be a play here. The first time they played the Ravens he had 5 catches for 65 yards and that is worth his price, and sneakily, the Ravens have given up a tonne of points to tight ends over the past month.

Defence

What was I thinking…

Dallas Cowboys

The ‘Boys offense is still a question mark, but I do like their defense. Tennessee still doesn’t really have an identity and Byron Jones is becoming one of the better corners in the league. The Titans are giving up 3.5 sacks a game and the Dallas pass rush has been fearsome in parts this year.

What was I thinking…

Washington Redskins

I’m picking the ‘Skins again this week after it paid off for me last week. Obviously, they play a much tougher opponent this week but I dug deeper into the stats and it looks good from this end. At home, the Falcons average over 30 points but on the road, they average just 13 points. This Washington unit has also been one of the top scoring defenses for the past 2 weeks. Now this could be a disaster so choose if you want to risk it, but I like the pick.

RB TEN Dion Lewis @ DAL ($4,700)

WR CAR D.J. Moore @ TB ($4,300)

TE GB Jimmy Graham @ NE ($4,700)

D/ST CHI Bears @ BUF ($4,100)
