A source has informed us that the Coventry Uni Jets American Football Team have been banned from any activity (including games and practice) for 4 weeks by their Student Union.
This is after an apparent drunken, naked swim involving team members in a town centre fountain on a team social.
The Jets were promoted to the BUCS Prem North and are due to play Leeds Beckett away on Sunday Nov 3rd. Their next scheduled game after that is against Nottingham Uni on Nov 17th.
Whether both of these games will be affected remains unclear as our source informed us that unless any affected games are moved they will go down as forfeitures and incur points deductions.
This could mean that Coventry Uni Jets start their Prem North campaign on negative points which would almost certainly spell relegation for them. By proxy it would negate any real competition other than the championship for one of the sports top 2 Uniball conferences.
Our source went on to say that the Jets had already tried and failed to get their game against Leeds Beckett rescheduled. And that they allegedly cited a ‘Reading Week’ as the reason for the move instead of explaining the real reason behind their request.
We have reached out to Coventry Uni Jets President, Ed Cooper, for comment and will update this story with any further development.
