Relegation already confirmed for both conferences in the NFC 1 as Gateshead Senators (0-10) are sent packing from the NFC 1 North, and Doncater Mustangs (0-10) get their marching orders from NFC 1 South.

So with that in mind, lets take a look at the scenarios of the NFC 1 North. Here’s the Standings for reference:

At the top of the table the 2 playoffs berths are already locked in with East Kilbride and Northumberland Vikings both qualifying for post-season football. It’s just a case of who takes the top spot and secures a Home game, and who is headed Sandwell to face the Steelers.

Game 1

There’s only one fixture that has any impact on Playoffs so let’s start there. Northumberland Vikings (8-1) host Aberdeen Roughnecks (4-5), this is after the Vikings got the shock shutout away win at East Kilbride last week and have put themselves in a position to knock the Pirates off the top spot should they win this game against the Roughnecks.

The last time these 2 played back in Week 4 it was a very close one with the Vikings taking the away win in a 3-7 game. No doubt the Roughnecks will fancy themselves in this fixture but with nothing to play for, will Aberdeen field a full strength side?

Game 2

Not much doing in this one as the Yorkshire Rams (3-6) host the Glasgow Tigers (4-5). If the Rams win, the that means 3 teams in this conference finish on 4-6, if the Tigers win then they could well go third – unless the Roughnecks also win.

The last time these 2 met was back in week 3 when the Tigers got the home shutout victory in a 13-0 game.

My NFC 1 North Predictions

I think that the winners on the day will be: Northumberland Vikings and Yorkshire Rams. This would mean the Vikings are crowned conference champs and the Pirates travel to Sandwell for their Quarter-Final game.

Sandwell have already locked up the top spot and take Home field advantage in the playoffs. It’s either Shropshire Revolution or Lancashire Wolverines who are joining them in the post-season. Let’s look at the scenarios.

Game 1

Lets start with Sandwell Steelers (9-0) hosting Lancashire Wolverines (6-3). Sandwell are playing for the perfect regular season record which is what they will get if they win. If Lancashire win they will secure the second playoff spot. If Lancashire lose, they are dependant on the result of the other game in the NFC 1 South regarding the playoffs.

When these 2 teams met back in Week 8, Sandwell got an insane away victory in a 6-59 game!

Game 2

Nottingham Caesars (5-4) host Shropshire Revolution (5-4). If the Revolution win this and Lancashire lose, then they are in the Playoffs.

If Nottingham win this, then regardless of the other result, Lancashire will be in the Playoffs. This is becuase Lancashire has the head-to-head over Nottingham.

The last time these 2 face each other was back in Week 8 where the Caesars got the away win in a 6-20 game.

My NFC 1 South Predictions

I think that the winners on the day will be: Sandwell Steelers and, this one is so tough to call but I’ll go for Shropshire Revolution. Meaning that both teams progress to the Playoffs.
