The Kent Phoenix have announced their adult team, the South East Squadron, and their plans have been unveiled in a statement!

The South East Squadron

After the Maidstone Pumas disbanded and generously donated their assets to the Kent Phoenix, it was announced that they would come together to form an Adult program. It was unknown what that would look like and how it would come together but the team have now put out the below statement outlining their plans for the new Adult program and sharing their excitement in getting this new team off the ground. They will take on the name ‘The South East Squadron’ and join BAFA as a developmental team to start things off in the 2021 season!

Kent Phoenix Full Statement

‘It has been a busy and eventful year for the Kent Phoenix, not one we envisaged in January but one which we have dealt with and made a success. Having already established Youth programs we expanded to include Cheerleading and as we have recently confirmed will be supporting development of an Adult program in the New Year.’

‘Following consultation with the newly established board and a number of members this club will be known as The SOUTH EAST SQUADRON and registered with BAFA as an Associate/Development club within the framework of the National League Adult program.’

‘It is our intention to build a club that promotes our core values of Playing, Developing, Learning and Having Fun to ensure players within our organisation are able to participate in our sport and reach whatever playing level they wish. We understand that to do this we will have to work hard to establish strong coaching structures and development as well as work with local clubs to ensure sustainable growth of the sport within our region.’

‘As an associate club we will focus our development towards kitted football. We will look to develop a plan with support from BAFA to ensure that our players are able to play competitive football with a pathway leading to entry into the National League in the future. We are aware that this may take some time and we will work hard to provide alternate development opportunities through Flag, 8v8 locally organised scrimmages and other BAFA approved programs. We are excited to be able to continue to offer the opportunity to play adult American Football in the Maidstone Area and hope to begin recruiting Coaches and Players soon to add to those already looking forward to a New Year New start.’
