The Dolphins and Jaguars come into London for the second and final NFL game in the UK of 2021. Both teams come into this game desperate for a win with the two teams a combined 1-9 on the season. The Dolphins are trying to cling to outside playoff hopes and the Jaguars are just trying to end a horrible losing streak, but more on that later.

So, how do these two matchup heading into this Sunday’s game?

This game truly is a matchup of two struggling Offenses going up against two struggling Defenses, both are averaging a little over two scores per game and are shipping over four. As much as this could be a low scoring affair it is also just as likely to become a shootout.

These two teams have only faced off Ten times historically despite being in-state rivals, mostly because of the young age of the Jaguars Franchise. The all-time series standings are currently 5-5 with the last meeting being a 31-13 Dolphins win. The Dolphins have a 1-3 record in the UK, While the Jaguars have a 3-4 record.

The Dolphins come into the game with a 1-4 record currently on a four-game losing streak having not won since their week one victory over the New England Patriots. The Jaguars however are yet to win in 2021 in fact they are currently running a TWENTY game losing streak that spans all the way back to their week one win over the Indianapolis Colts in 2020. This is the 2nd longest such streak in the Superbowl era.

This will be the Jaguars 7th Trip to play in the UK as London’s team. They managed wins over Ravens, Bills and the Colts on their travels, however on their last trip they suffered a 26-3 defeat at the Hands of the Houston Texans. The Dolphins have a large following in the UK and as such have made four trips. On their last outing in 2017, they lost 20-0 to the New Orleans Saints. This means these two teams combined for 3 points in their last trips each.

Making history in London

Well, Zach Wilson couldn’t become the first starting Rookie Quarterback to win in London, so the chance Now falls to Trevor Lawrence. Only one starting Rookie has ever thrown a Touchdown pass in the London games and that was Derek Carr in their 2014 trip, where they lost to, you guessed it, the Miami Dolphins. Should Trevor accomplish the feat, not only would he be breaking a record he would be helping the team avoid edging closer towards the worst losing streak in the Superbowl Era. Seems like a win-win to me and certainly should add some motivation.

Tua Returns

After 3 weeks out, Tua Tagovailoa returns for the Miami Dolphins and they will be hoping he can start to deliver on some of that potential he promised when they drafted him. Right now the Offense has been appalling and perhaps Tua can provide the spark they need to get them all firing, they certainly won’t get many chances against easier defences.

Jaguars Kicking Conundrum

With still no official word on Friday regarding who will be kicking for them, it’s still not clear whether Lambo will get the nod following his poor start to the year. The Jaguars are yet to kick a successful field goal in 2021, making it the longest such start to an NFL season without making a field goal in the Superbowl era, just another unwelcome record chalked up to the team from Jacksonville.

Trevor and Tua Meet Again

The two Quarterbacks have only faced off once before and that was on the biggest stage of all college football, The National Championship Game. In that game early in 2019, the then Freshman Trevor Lawrence led his Clemson team to a stomping 44-16 win over the Tua led Alabama Crimson Tide. Once again, they will meet on a “neutral field” and Trevor Lawrence is on the underdog team. Could history repeat itself?
