Part 3 – The Ugly
Well another season of the NFL is in the books with yet another Tom Brady Superbowl win, this time with his team mates at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Over the season there was some great moments and a great effort made to not cancel a single game due to covid-19.
So 3 of us decided to look into the seasons Good, Bad and Ugly. For each section we picked a team, a player and a coach and compiled them into a list.
So here we go. . .
New York Jets (2 Votes)
This team should have been 0-16, the Rams and Browns were 2 playoff teams that were caught out on unlucky weeks. The coaching was a mess, roster was a mess and the loss against the Raiders was just embarrassing. They have now sacked their head coach and need to start a new but they have so many holes to fill that they will need to be smart in the draft and free agency to improve in a division that’s only getting stronger.
Houston Texans (1 Vote)
The Texans were a team 24-3 up on the chiefs in the divisional round of the playoffs in 2020 before one stupid decision to fake punt from their own 20 gave the chiefs the opportunity to score. From then they got rid of one of their top 2 players in Hopkins, didn’t really strengthen in any areas which cause them to go 4-12 this season, sack their head coach/general manager and now really hack off their star quarterback.
Dwayne Haskins – Washington Football Team (2 Votes)
Dwayne Haskins was given the keys to the Washington football team at the start of the season after Alex Smith wasn’t quite ready. He did not do very much with them. . . Through 5 games he had the team at a 1-4 record, thrown for 1400 yards with 5 Touchdowns to 7 Interceptions and was subsequently benched. The team under Alex Smith then went to the playoffs.
Robert Quinn – Chicago Bears (1 Vote)
This guy has been a pro at milking teams for a load of money in contract years then playing crap the rest of the contract and this year was no different. He got given a ridiculous 5-year, $70m deal after having 11.5 sacks last season and then proceeded to have just 2 sacks in 16 games with the bears. A bears defensive line that has Nakeem Hicks and Khalil Mack on it so it’s not like he’s the focus of the offence.
Anthony Lynn – Los Angeles Chargers (3 Votes)
Out of all the different votes on these articles, this is the one person that got all 3 of our votes, and for good reason. Justin Herbert played lights out almost all year in a talented offence and put up points. The defence had some injuries but still had a talented roster available and could not stop teams from scoring. The worst part of this was Anthony Lynn. How he survived the season I have no idea, from terrible 4th down offensive calls that cost games, special team’s plays in ridiculous circumstances and all-round clock management this guy was awful all year round. Deserved the sack for these combinations of continuous mistakes.
