We’re looking at every team’s best players on offense and defence, this time around we take a look at the AFC South division!

The rest of the series can be found: NFC North (24/06), AFC North (25/06), AFC East (28/06), NFC East (29/06), NFC West (02/07), AFC West (03/07), AFC South (06/07), NFC South (07/07)

Jacksonville Jaguars

That was going to be a good highlight': Jaguars DE Josh Allen ...

Best offensive player: D.J. Chark, WR

After Chark had just 174 yards in his rookie year, he came out of nowhere to catch 73 balls for 1,008 yards and eight touchdowns and spark Minshew mania. He and Minshew had a special chemistry that put Nick Foles back on the bench. I think he continues to play well but in this offense it might be a struggle to produce as all the pressure will be on his shoulders.

Best defensive player: Josh Allen, DE

A lot of defensive talent has eroded from the Jags after the unit pushed Blake Bortles to an AFC championship game. Josh Allen as a rookie recorded 10.5 sacks and displayed the explosiveness he had at Kentucky. The Jags were lucky he fell to them in the first-10 picks, it didn’t look likely before the draft. He should now lead that defensive line as Yannick Ngakoue doesn’t want to be there anymore.

Indianapolis Colts

DeForest Buckner Best players AFC South
Hawaii News Now

Best offensive player: Quenton Nelson, LG

TY Hilton is a great receiver but Nelson is at the top of his game and is arguably the best guard in the NFL. He blows every guy off the line and can hold his own against the best defensive linemen in the game. Nelson is a joy to watch on the game tape and he sticks out like a sore thumb, pancaking guys left and right.

Best defensive player: DeForest Buckner, DT

Buckner instantly becomes the best player on an already pretty good Colts defence. On the 49ers, Buckner was a versatile destructive force who moved around and made a lot of plays. Out on his own and able to play a lot more snaps, Buckner will become a household name in Indianapolis. He had a career-high of 12 sacks in 2018, I expect more than that in 2020 and he should be one of the best defensive players in the AFC South.

Houston Texans

What advice does Texans' J.J. Watt Best players AFC South
Texans Wire

Best offensive player: Deshaun Watson, QB

Another of the young QBs who are changing the landscape of the NFL, Watson does some magical things with the football in his hands. He’s definitely in the top-five at the position and he continues to ascend each year. Bill O’ Brien would not have a job without Watson bailing him out year-after-year and I feel very confident saying that.

Best defensive player: J.J. Watt, DE

He’s older and he’s injury-prone but Watt still remains a force wherever he lines up. Watt somehow managed to return to the team in the playoffs after he tore his bicep early in the season. He has multiple DPOY awards under his belt and he wants to prove that he’s worth a new contract. The older Watt brother is the definition of a perfect teammate and he will do anything to help the Texans win.

Tennessee Titans

A.J. Brown Best players AFC South
The Athletic

Best offensive player: A.J. Brown, WR

No one expected Brown to have the season he did going to the Titans in the second round. He finished his rookie year with 52 catches for 1,052 and eight touchdowns, an astonishing 20.2-yard average catch. As long as Tannehill continues his comeback tour and doesn’t regress, A.J. Brown’s impressive skillset will only improve and I expect him to be a top-10 receiver by the end of the year.

Best defensive player: Kevin Byard, FS

Byard was once mistaken for a fan by Deion Sanders but he is the leader of this pretty bad secondary for the Titans. He’s athletic and an elite ball-hawking safety who is ready to deal out some big hits. He was in on 84 tackles, had nine passes defended and picked off another five passes in the 2019 season. Byard will continue to excel and be one of the best players in the AFC South.
