Jay Gruden gave all the juicy details on Dan Snyder during his tenure with the Washington Football Team!
Jay Gruden was the head coach in Washington for five-plus seasons. At the end of his tenure, there was a huge story with allegations of sexual harassment and other happenings within the franchise. I’m sure many people were hoping that now he was a free man, Gruden would dish the details on his time there. The team went just 35-49-1 during Jay Gruden’s time, making the playoffs as the 9-7 NFC East champions during his second season and then never again. Gruden told the Washington Post: “Every year that I was there, we had a pretty good draft class, with a couple exceptions. [Smith] was really good about listening to the coaches because the coaches also did evaluations. … When it came our time to pick, we’d always talk about the picks, where we’d like to go, what happens if [the player] is gone, and did all our scenarios. And then [owner Daniel Snyder] would come in off his yacht and make the pick.”
All in all, if Snyder has just been slamming the table for random draft picks, they haven’t fared too badly. They might have flamed out on the Dwayne Haskin’s pick but they’ve secured many good players in recent years. It was, in fact, the Haskin’s pick that Gruden was referencing, as in, Snyder called in taking one of the biggest busts at QB in the last few years. Will Jay Gruden let anything else slip out into the media? I sure hope so!
