8GL Statement Regarding The Death Of Jack Welding
Following the recent news from March this year of the death of 22-year-old Jack Welding, that has been discussed in numerous Britball Groups, 8GL were asked to comment on the accusations.
A spokesperson for 8GL has said:
“This is a sad story reported back in March and has no connection to American football, so the 8GL would have no comment to make on this story apart from to repeat that of the coroner’s inquest.“
“The pathologist at the time told the Coroner’s Court that the cause of death as ‘traumatic brain haemorrhage and the post-mortem examination had determined that the injury had occurred in the same location as a cut to the back of Jack’s head sustained as a result of the fall he had when out round Wigan that night.
He said that “the injury had not been caused by any contact during the training session or this would have happened sooner than it did.”
“Legal advice was taken at the time with regards to anyone reporting a link to the team/sport and any suggestions linking any team to these events are contrary to the finding of the courts and may be subject to legal action.”
This has caused mixed reactions throughout the American Football Community and will be discussed tonight on the Gridiron Hub Live! show at 7.15 pm
